The Council of Arab Ambassadors in Hungary expresses its deep concern towards the attacks against Muslim and Christian Palestinians in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

For many days until now, hundreds were injured and dozens were arrested when lsraeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, firing rubber-coated bullets, tear gas, and sound bombs at Palestinian worshippers.

Few days ago, Orthodox Christians were prevented from attending the Holy Fire ceremony at Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. Orthodox Christians, including priests, seeking to attend the ceremony flocked to the church, but were blocked and few were arrested by police in the narrow streets leading to the church.

Meanwhile, lsrael continues its plans to change facts on the ground and is forcing the eviction of residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem. This eviction is targeting 28 homes inhabited by 500 Palestinian families to open the way to Jewish settlers to eliminate the Palestinian presence. The use of lsraeli “central” court to approve the eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in favor of lsraeli settlers is rather colonial from legal. Considering its values and principles, support of peace and stability, and adherence to lnternational Law and legitimacy, we call upon the government of Hungary to urge lsrael to end its attacks on Jerusalemites and their properties, and to allow them practice their basic rights, including freedom of worshiping.

The Council reiterates the position of the lnternational community that the solution of the Palestine conflict, based on the full, just and definitive implementation of the relevant United Nations Resolutions is the only way to establish coexistence among religions and living together of people and to bring lasting peace, security and stability in the region and the world.
