The Erekat family mourns the tragic death of our son Ahmad Erekat, who was killed in cold blood by the Israeli occupation on June 23, 2020. Our son Ahmad is the eleventh Palestinian to be killed this year alone, and among hundreds slain in the past two years, as a result of Israel’s extrajudicial shoot-to-kill policy. As individuals, families, international organizations, and states, we must work together to put a stop to Israel’s repeated cold-blooded killings of Palestinians.

In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the State of Palestine takes this opportunity to remind the World and the international community of the impact of the prolonged Israeli occupation on women’s rights. Palestinian women and girls suffer from systematic and widespread violations of their fundamental rights, including the right to life, the right to health, the right to education, the right to self-determination, the right of return and access to services in violation of international law, including international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Anti-Semitism is fanaticism against all Semites (Arabs, Christian Arabs and Muslims of the Middle East, Canaanites, some Ethiopians, Aramaeans and Jews). Anti-Zionism opposes the political ideology of Zionism, a movement that insists on all its political manifestations to prioritize the rights of Jews in a homeland to the detriment of Palestinians who have been living there since ancient times.
“The ongoing Israeli escalation against the captive Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip is a continuation of the war crimes Israel has been committing against the Palestinian people for the past half a century. Israel has turned Gaza into the largest open-air prison in the world, choking life and hope out of the besieged and occupied territory while indiscriminately bombarding heavily populated civilian areas.”
During the night of 25 September, Israeli occupation forces stormed the home of Jerusalem Affairs Minister Fadi Al-Hidmi and detained him. This is an illegal abduction that reflects the systematic Israeli persecution of the Palestinian people, especially in Jerusalem. Occupation authorities have also summoned Adnan Ghaith, the Governor of Jerusalem. These continued harassment and intimidation actions directed at legitimate Palestinian representatives and leaders, including the Minister and the Governor, are reprehensible and unacceptable. They must stop.
On July 22 Israeli occupying soldiers and bulldozers stormed the town of Sur Bahir and begun demolishing Palestinian houses. Families were woken up in the early hours of the morning and forced out of their homes. This is another attempt to extinguish Palestinian life, a crime of ethnic cleansing by Israel and a direct attempt by Israel; the occupying power to further annex occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank.
“The decision of the Hungarian Government to open the foreign trade representation in Jerusalem is an act of defiance to the U.N. resolutions concerning Jerusalem. This is a provocative and illegal move that will increase the destabilizing of the security in the region. We highly reject this act and demand that Hungary respect the International Law and U.N. resolutions relevant to Jerusalem.” – H.E. Manuel Hassassian
“The Israeli decision to terminate the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) constitutes an outright breach of the UN resolution (904) of (1994). This is primarily meant to cover the Israeli crimes committed by the illegal settlers in Hebron and other areas of the West Bank.” H.E. Manuel Hassassian.
“The provocative incitement against President Mahmoud comes in the context of hate and bigorty against the Palestinians and their properties. This is an outright incitement against the peace process pursued by President Mahmoud Abbas, which epitomizes at best the degradation of human morality and values. The Israeli government should be held accountable to the vociferous calls for the President’s assassination and the perpetuation of the systematic violent acts by the settlers against the Palestinians.” H.E. Manuel Hassassian.
“On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we reaffirm our commitment to peace and justice and adamantly confirm that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible. We also call upon the international community to urgently and unequivocally stand in defence of the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights” H.E. Manuel Hassassian.
