The European Union Foreign Ministers will meet and the agenda will be a letter signed by Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, demanding European recognition of the State of Palestine.

Fulfillment of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination has been delayed as a basic human right, and the recognition of the state of Palestine is a fundamental step in the direction of defending the prospects of a single viable political solution based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Exercising the Palestinian right to acquire a state does not undermine other rights under international law, including the right of Palestinians living in Israel to be treated as equal citizens, the rights of Palestinian refugees (including their individual rights – in addition to the Arab Peace Initiative).
