In his address at the 74th United Nations General Assembly on 26 September 2019 President Mahmoud Abbas thanked governments and people of countries that condemned Israel’s continuing settlement activity and threats of annexation of the occupied Palestinian Territories.
During the night of 25 September, Israeli occupation forces stormed the home of Jerusalem Affairs Minister Fadi Al-Hidmi and detained him. This is an illegal abduction that reflects the systematic Israeli persecution of the Palestinian people, especially in Jerusalem. Occupation authorities have also summoned Adnan Ghaith, the Governor of Jerusalem. These continued harassment and intimidation actions directed at legitimate Palestinian representatives and leaders, including the Minister and the Governor, are reprehensible and unacceptable. They must stop.
Responding to the news that armed Israeli guards shot dead a Palestinian woman after she allegedly pulled out a knife at the Qalandiya military checkpoint between Ramallah and East Jerusalem on 18 September 2019, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa Saleh Higazi said:
Video footage of the incident shows the woman standing some distance away from the Israeli guards when they shot her dead. She did not appear to be carrying a firearm and did not pose any immediate threat to the guards or to the lives of people in the vicinity when they opened fire. This strongly suggests that her killing may have been unlawful.
Under international law, lethal force must only be used when strictly unavoidable and in order to defend people from imminent risk of death or serious injury.
On 10 September 2019 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he would annex large swathes of occupied Palestinian territories in case of his re-election. He said he would apply “Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea”. Palestinian diplomat Saeb Erekat said such annexation moves would “bury any chance of peace”.
Annexation under international law is a war crime.
Dr. Nasser Alkidwa, Chairman of Yasser Arafat Foundation, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Palestinian National Authority attempted to enumerate the policies, measures and actions that Israel has and continues to perpetrate against the Palestinian people: to seize their land and destroy their rights and national goals; against the Arab region; in violation of the principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter; or in breach or grave breach of international humanitarian law and international human rights law (war crimes and crimes against humanity); or in violation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions; or in violation of the 2004 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice; as well as in violation of the values and principles upon which the international system is based. In addition to all of the above, Israel has and continues to violate its agreements with the parties and undermine the possibility of a negotiated solution.
The people of Palestine long for freedom, justice and peace. They are entitled to live in dignity just like any other people exercising their inalienable and sacred right to self-determination.

At least two Palestinian minors were killed and over 80 others injured today by live bullets or rubber-coated rounds as Israeli forces attacked thousands of protesters taking part in the weekly Great March of Return at the fence separating besieged Gaza from Israel, according to medical sources.
On July 22 Israeli occupying soldiers and bulldozers stormed the town of Sur Bahir and begun demolishing Palestinian houses. Families were woken up in the early hours of the morning and forced out of their homes. This is another attempt to extinguish Palestinian life, a crime of ethnic cleansing by Israel and a direct attempt by Israel; the occupying power to further annex occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank.
“The decision of the Hungarian Government to open the foreign trade representation in Jerusalem is an act of defiance to the U.N. resolutions concerning Jerusalem. This is a provocative and illegal move that will increase the destabilizing of the security in the region. We highly reject this act and demand that Hungary respect the International Law and U.N. resolutions relevant to Jerusalem.” – H.E. Manuel Hassassian
“The Israeli decision to terminate the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) constitutes an outright breach of the UN resolution (904) of (1994). This is primarily meant to cover the Israeli crimes committed by the illegal settlers in Hebron and other areas of the West Bank.” H.E. Manuel Hassassian.
